3. Tequila Daisy
Shop 11, 33 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo, Sydney CBDClosed.
Taste a bit of vibrant Mexico in Sydney's bustling Barangaroo at Tequila Daisy. This diner and bar is anything but a wallflower, offering diners a food and drinks menu that takes its inspiration from traditional Mexican style cuisine made with some of Australia's favourite produce. Start with the tacos made with wagyu beef brisket; before sampling the ocean trout ceviche or for something unique, try the bbq achiote with sides. The drinks menu is equally as creative and offers variations of the classics like the margarita, but it's hard to go past the OG and namesake 'The Daisy'

Chula brings colour and life to Potts Point as well as exceptional Mexican cuisine. The restaurant's terracotta tones, faded photographs of Mexican scene, vintage cupboards, agave plants and religious motifs all add to the atmosphere. Run by Peter Lew and Nicole Galloway (Fei Jai, Barrio Cellar, and the late Barrio Chino), who have fallen for the bright, bold, bright cuisine and culture of Mexico. Enjoy your meal inside and outside seating under the black wicker lampshades overhead.

With the prominence of cheese and sour cream, some of the dishes are slightly more Tex Mex than others but order well and you’ll be a happy customer. Go for the cactus ensalada with queso or, if you’re hungry, tuck into a pulled pork burrito. If you’re a hot sauce fiend, look out for the one labelled “sudden death”, it lives up to its moniker.Read more

As its name implies, this Neutral Bay hotspot is less Mexican cantina, more Manhattan Beach but the menu is worth a mention. Pulled pork quesadillas, baja fish tacos and lamb empanadas are the perfect beer snacks while snapper ceviche and jalapeno cornbread deliver on the plate.Read more
