BEST MEXICAN IN SYDNEY

  1. Mejico Sydney

Sydney CBD, Sydney, New South Wales

Leave your feathered headdress at home because Mejico aint’ no ordinary cantina. Owner Dr Sam Prince, of Zambrero Fresh Mex Grill, needs to sell quite a few tacos to break even after a 4 million dollar fit-out. Like the design, the menu is an upmarket affair with dishes such as de-constructed sole fillet and grain fed aged sirloin with Mexican tabbouleh.

  6. Mexicano

North Narrabeen, Sydney, New South Wales

The suntanned Northern Beaches crowd loved Mexicano so much that they’ve opened up in Neutral Bay too. This lower North Shore offering not only does less damage on the fuel tank but it’s just as good, too.

  7. Chica Bonita Manly

    Manly, Sydney, New South Wales

Décor wise, Chica Bonita is as Mexican as Sydney gets. Even the toilets are plastered in cut-outs from Mexican newspapers. Mates Luke and Sean have got the drinking/eating balance down pat with killer margaritas, local Mexican beers and authentic street food.

  8. Flying Fajitas Sistas

    Glebe, Sydney, New South Wales

With the prominence of cheese and sour cream, some of the dishes are slightly more Tex Mex than others but order well and you’ll be a happy customer. Go for the cactus ensalada with queso or, if you’re hungry, tuck into a pulled pork burrito. If you’re a hot sauce fiend, look out for the one labelled “sudden death”, it lives up to its moniker.

  9. El Primo Sanchez

  10. SoCal Sydney

Neutral Bay, Sydney, New South Wales

As its name implies, this Neutral Bay hotspot is less Mexican cantina, more Manhattan Beach but the menu is worth a mention. Pulled pork quesadillas, baja fish tacos and lamb empanadas are the perfect beer snacks while snapper ceviche and jalapeno cornbread deliver on the plate.
