SPICE TEMPLE MELBOURNE
Melbourne, Victoria

Top10 Image
A homage to provincial Chinese cooking, Neil Perry's Spice Temple restaurant in Southbank celebrates the cuisine's fire and diversity. Spice Temple exudes a darkly dramatic, exotic feel with red hues, rich golden lighting, dark wooden furniture and black crockery. Gold bead curtains serve to partition the large space and give an intimate, sexy atmosphere that is reminiscent of entering an alluring opium den.

I don't know whether our server was off the ball tonight but we were disappointed in Spice Temple. We were served one drink in 65 minutes. Our food was then delivered (2 entrees, 2 mains and rice) all in 35 minutes. The small table could hardly handle it! Unfortunately, I can't move beyond that once things start badly at a supposedly fine dining restaurant. I shouldn't have to wave down a server every time I need something. Rock pool is miles ahead for service. Will not be returning. And please at least have one local lager to extinguish the flames. It's okay to please the masses sometimes!
