PROFILE BY BEST RESTAURANTS
Frock up for this one, ladies and gents. Spice Market is one of Melbourne's hottest destinations, featuring a glamorous design and delicious Middle Eastern offerings. The space is big and well-organised with a huge central bar, varied seating arrangements and an exceptionally gorgeous elevated private lounge. Spice Market is decorated with Asian antiques, colourful fabrics, ceramics and glass mosaics, which have been collected by the owners over their years of travel. The restaurant takes its lavish design motif from the Spice Route which tracked the journey between the Middle East and Asia. So too does the cuisine, and the tunes that accompany the atmosphere are worldly and interesting.
Kick the night off with a Spice Market Middle Eastern Bloody Mary or a martini made with a choice of vodka and gin. The wine list is terrific too and fairly priced. Once settled on your be-cushioned seats, nibble on some mezze plates which include such goodies as chicken liver pate with dukkah, or spicy kofta meatballs with pickled green chilli, along with the Turkish-style spinach and cheese wafer. The Turkish-style pizzas are also terrific for sharing. MoMo restaurant can be accessed from Spice Market, so you could start with a drink and come back after dinner for a Turkish delight martini.
