The Palace Tearoom in the QVB, (maybe I'm biased). Try the Croque Madam

We usually visit Sydney at Christmas time and have made going to the QVB for afternoon tea an absolute must. The room is beautiful, the staff are friendly polite and helpful which is such a delight. The food is amazing and looks beautiful too. As we live in a in the middle of Australia it's great to be able to feel very spoilt once in a while and enjoying the QVB afternoon tea is an big highlight. Well done for doing what you do and its awesome that in this mad rush world there is a beautiful place with olde worlde charm and stlye to enjoy.

Bouquets and Brickbats! My husband and I visited Sydney recently for a holiday and decided to celebrate my birthday (June 9) at the QVB Tea Room. The room is quite beautiful and the chandeliers spectacular as are the other furnishings. We had afternoon High Tea on a week day and perhaps this may have accounted for it being so quiet and lacking a little 'something' in atmosphere. The Royal Albert Tea Service , the little silver teapots , milk jugs and tea strainers were beautiful but, unfortunately the whole presentation was let down by the really awful teaspoons and cake forks provided which were of less than top quality stainless steel!!! The teas we ordered were excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful given that I have food intolerances. We have enjoyed high teas at other establishments and perhaps each restaurant does it a little differently, but I would have to say the Scones were a little large, albeit tasty, as were the sandwiches which could have been cut a little thinner, but this is a personal idiosyncrasy ; the remainder of the sweet and savoury items were quite delectable. Hopefully these comments will be viewed as constructive.

Whenever I visit my daughter in Sydney, from the States a visit to the QVB for tea is a must. The scones are unequalled.

I took my two grandchildren aged 7 and 13 to morning tea at the QVB Tea Room as a highlight of their time with me during the Christmas holidays. I think they were a little overawed by the atmosphere but also enjoyed the experience very much (particularly the food). The table service was excellent and my cup of tea never tasted so good as it did that morning, taken from the wonderful Royal Albert tea service. Thank you for a lovely memory.
