Built in the 1940's, the grand art deco building of the Civic Hotel has long been iconic in the Sydney Hospitality Industry. During the 1970's the Hotel was renowned for the number of rock and roll bands that it helped launch including INXS and Midnight Oil. Today, the space is more refined. The cocktail bar invokes images of a New York jazz club. Curving tan leather banquettes line the walls and a cluster of ottomans and low tables across from the bar offer a place to relax with a cocktail. The dining area is classical and clean, featuring sleek, polished, dark wooden tables and chairs.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
The Civic Hotel specializes in Modern Australian bistro fare. The menu features all the classic crowd pleasers, from garlic bread to chicken schnitzel, and the classic Aussie beef burger with all the trimmings. A selection of four kinds of fries make perfect drinking food – along with double fried, there are ‘Boston' fries, covered in cheese and bacon, or ‘Canadian', smothered with gravy and cheese. If you're looking for something more substantial, the Flagship Rib Eye with black truffle jus should do the trick.
