XAGE RESTAURANT
Sydney, New South Wales

Top10 Image
Vietnam-born Minh Nguyen is creating some of his childhood favourites as well as interpreting modern Vietnamese dishes at his new restaurant in Surry Hills. Xage has a casual, smart interior with glossed finishes softened by recycled fence-post timber wall features and furniture. Good value for standard of food.

DETAILS

Drawing in Surry Hills' young lively crowd most nights, this modern Vietnamese eatery is cheap and cheerful. Xage (pronounced Sage) is always busy and bustling with the energy of Crown Street's passing crowds. Nestled below a residential block, its open terrace faces onto the pedestrian footpath, while inside both small and long share tables offer an alternative to smaller sized outdoor seating. This restaurant is perfect for a laid back evening to catch up with friends.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Chef Minh Nguyen, knows how to hit the spot, with his authentic home-style Vietnamese food. Its list of fresh spring rolls, curries, wok stir-fries and vermicelli salads is extensive and well priced with entrées such as red chicken skewers with nuoc cham and fresh spring rolls like the prawn rolls with hot green chilli sauce. Xage's specialty mains include silken tofu with sichuan pepper salt and chilli, as well as a grilled Tasmanian ocean trout cha cá in herbs and spices. Like all good neighbourhood restaurants, Xage is BYO, so come prepared with your favourite drop.
