About the restaurant
It's perfect for
a dinner for lingering with friends who take food seriously
You need to try
the miso Patagonian toothfish and wagyu beef nigiri
Look out for
the moody izakaya fit-out with the charcoal grill sending smoke through every dish
On Enmore Road in the heart of Newtown, Kaiza Izakaya brings together Japanese technique with Vietnamese influence under the guidance of chef Jason Nguyen. Moody red and black walls hung with paper fans, lanterns and blossom trees set the scene for an evening of bold, considered small plates. The menu moves from sashimi paired with fresh herbs to charcoal-grilled meats and standout dishes like wagyu beef nigiri and miso Patagonian toothfish, each one a product of two culinary traditions cooked together in perfect balance.
