HUGOS MANLY
Sydney, NSW

Right on Manly Wharf, Hugos is one of Sydney's most iconic waterfront restaurants. The modern Italian menu, created by celebrity chef Pete Evans, has a lovely mix of pizza and pasta, however it's the buzzing atmosphere and water views that keep Sydney's socialites coming back, weekend after weekend. Please Note: Hugos Manly does NOT accept dinner reservations on Friday and Saturday nights - the dining room operates on a walk-in basis.

The ambience is suitably casual but the standard of food served in this wonderfully situated restaurant is very high both in quality and taste and this is equally applicable to the efficient, friendly service provided. An innovative menu, listing "normal" Italian cuisine with a "clever" twist!

For a double birthday celebration I tried to book a table for four at Hugos Restaurant, Manly. I was told they didn’t accept reservations, which is their prerogative. However, I was assured: “we have a lot of tables, sir, and there won’t be a problem finding one for you.” Against my better judgment I accepted the assurance, but when we arrived at 7pm I was told it would be a 45-minute wait for a table. “So, sir, please give me your name and I’ll record it, and I’ll call you when a table is ready.” So, suddenly, Hugos is taking reservations! We were advised to go to Hugos bar and have some drinks. What a ruse! When I complained I was told that the owners of Hugos would never change the no-reservation system. Again, that is their prerogative, but assuring people that there was always tables available is deceitful.
