GIRO OSTERIA
Sydney, NSW

Just up from Asian hotspot, Alphabet Street, Giro Osteria is an Italian-inspired restaurant set to put Cronulla on the foodie map. Former La Scala chef Ruben Martinez has branched out on his own, teaming up with Joe Natale (of Alphabet Street) to create this beautiful bistro on The Kingsway, just a few steps from Cronulla's Esplanade. Giro Osteria limits itself to six or seven seasonal items that change frequently and a wine list composed of primarily Italian drops and a handful of Australian varietals.

First comes Alphabet St with its first class cuisine, and now Giro Osteria which is no less salubrious. Stunning range of food which is well presented and the service is as you would expect from a Joe Natale establishment . Starters are tapas (share) style but that's where the similarity to Spanish ends - just Italian fine dining - and the mains and specials are memorable, with all to see on the blackboard menu. Unfortunately, we ingested too much food and wine on the night to "test" the desserts, but they certainly sounded as good as everything else. My only complaint - copy your famous Alphabet St cocktail menu, Joe.

We ate til we couldn't breathe! The food was outstanding, the service was great - a wonderful experience in all. I recommend the antipasto platter of all these scrumptious delicacies, the zucchini flowers and the risotto balls.. even the bread they served warranted a 'wow'!!! Can't wait to go again!
