CHURCH POINT WATERFRONT CAFÉ
Sydney, New South Wales

Top10 Image
Diners on the peninsula at Pittwater should stop in at Church Point, where the ferry comes in, for a Modern Australian meal at Church Point General Store and Waterfront Café. The rustic eatery serves moderately-priced meals, but the superstar of the visit is the view; diners can watch the boats roll across the water from the large outdoor deck. Patrons approaching the restaurant by boat can phone in their takeaway order and pick up the food from Waterfront's private jetty.

Went in for a light snack and sat outside to look at the view. Ordered 3 soft drinks and 4 sausage rolls. We were advised that there was a $2 on the deck surcharge - no problem with that, but the bill came to $35.10! Checked with the counter staff to find that the surcharge applied to each sausages roll! So a $4 roll cost us $6 - a 50% surcharge. Someone there needs to review what they charge their customers and why. A $2 surcharge for someone to carry 4 plates 10m to our table is just money grabbing! The rolls were good though!

Having some visitors from Gosford for morning tea. Thought I would ask our walking group (8) to walk there and check it out. We all bought drinks and some bought cake. When we sat down on the beautiful deck the maitre 'd came up and said if we weren't ordering food then we could not use the tables. There were many empty tables, and he could have asked us to move to the sofas - It was not handled very politely. I am now taking my visitors to H2O at Narrabeen and hoping for service with a smile These are facts and not a rant - the vista is beautiful ; parking difficult
