PROFILE BY BEST RESTAURANTS
Sparkling brightly with its recently renovated carpets, columns and sconce lighting, Impressions Cafe is the sort of place you head to if you'd like an early morning coffee, a large hangover buffet breakfast, a casual, children-friendly, dinner or a late-night pizza fix. It resides in a very decently proportioned space – so decently proportioned that it'll take you from the jingling clamour of the pokie room into a more sedate environment and pop you out into the sporting lounge at the other end. At its helm is a bright counter which steams away with all sorts of modern Australian delights – various roasts and noodles for anyone seeking a filling dinner or lunch, gourmet sandwiches and salads for anybody watching their waistline and a selection of wood-fired pizzas for anybody who isn't.
The menu, which is quite compact, doubles up as artwork on some of the cafe's walls, inviting diners (or lunch-ers) to peruse its offerings and succumb to its promise of hot and cold favourites. Impressions has also worked up a bit of a name in the pizza department. Not going overboard with its selection, it offers five standards (meat lovers, supreme, chicken, vegetarian and "ham'n'pineapple") as well as a chef's special. Where it gets interesting is with a "create your own topic" option – kids have a lot of fun with this (as do fastidious adults). A few tables across you'll also find a great companion to your customised pizza snack – the bar. This offers a pleasant, cheery environment for a catch up with friends over a cocktail or other beverage of choice.
