Over a weekend we eat here frequently. On the first night we dined a la carte and were really happy with the refined flavours, presentation and service, but at breakfast the standard fell to just average. They really need some inspiration so they maintain what they would have us beleive the standard to be. For lunch, our group had alternate drop - the food was very nice but the serving staff were nowhere to be seen and the groom himself had to start pouring drinks for the guests - that is really poor. That evening, the staff were oddly grumpy and made themselves look foolish. Breakfast the next day was as bad as the first and we all decided that it was better to eat elsewhere then to have lunch at Kater a second time. Overall, it was a bit disappointing and still expensive.

I've eaten at this restaurant a number of times now on weekends away in the Southern Highlands and highly recommend it. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. There's also a fantastic wine menu. Last night I chose quail with prosciutto for entree and melt in your mouth beef for main. Delicious!
