Our favourite summer cocktail spots

Bar Toto brings a clever fusion of old-world charm to the shores of Ettalong Beach on NSW's Central Coast. Nestled in the Cinema Paradiso complex, the bar is a neighbourhood hot spot serving up craft cocktails and signature pizzas. Embracing its coastal surrounds the vibe is chilled and trendy drawing in the crowds especially during the warmer months. Bar Toto is also equipped for hosting special events and functions with food and drinks packages available.

Da Orazio in Bondi Beach serves pasta, woodfired pizza, desserts and more. Also famous for its Porchetta sandwiches, made from 18 hour slow roasted pork, a delicacy in Rome.

With unrivalled harbour and city skyline views, Smoke is the ritzy rooftop bar at the top of Barangaroo House, from Matt Moran and the Solotel Group. If you don’t manage to nab a table at one of the 150 seats outside, the interior design is picturesque in its own right (there’s also a further 100 seats inside). With over 50 cocktails on the menu, including all the classics plus a bevvy of Smoke specialities, alongside a refined wine list with expert sommeliers to hand. The menu is a far cry from classic bar food with dishes created with flair.

Tequila Mockingbird can be found in a restored terrace house at Five Ways in Sydney's inner suburb of Paddington . Step into the freshly decorated cosy space with its black and white checked floor, copper seats and an enticing list of tequila cocktails. The theme is sophisticated Latin American cuisine with the menu featuring the likes of ceviche taco, red chimichurri and for those wanting to sample a bit of everything then the tasting menu is ideal. Tequila Mockingbird has three private areas for dining or entertaining cocktail style. The ground floor sits up to 30 people which has banquet style seating flowing out to a boutique covered courtyard.

Perched on the edge of Sydney harbour, with 360 degree views of the city skyline, the Watsons Bay Hotel Beach Club is an iconic Eastern Suburbs venue. Complete with palm trees, beach umbrellas and staff wearing sailor-like uniforms, the seafood-focussed menu features buckets of prawns, coopers battered fish and chips and their famous ‘Watto Beef Burger', perfect to soak up a boozy afternoon of drinks.
