Best Thai Restaurants in Perth

20/06/2023

There’s no shortage of Thai restaurants in Perth but they can be a bit hit-and-miss. Here are our picks for the best Thai restaurants in the city, whether you want traditional street food or a decent Aussie version of Thai flavours.

  1. Nunam

    Northbridge, Perth, Western Australia

If you loved Nahm Thai, you’ll be happy to know it’s back and it’s better than ever, just with a new name – Nunam. The Northbridge restaurant is unusual in that it offers breakfast as well as lunch and dinner and it’s worth checking out the Asian fusion dishes (hello, black sticky rice) when you’re over scrambled eggs and toast.

  2. The Apple Daily Bar & Eating House

    Perth CBD, Perth, Western Australia

It’s not strictly, Thai, but Apple Daily Bar & Eating House has a south east Asian street food menu that’s as much fun as its name, and it’s a must-visit dining destination. Set inside after-dark hotspot Print Hall, the second storey restaurant offers a view of people milling about the bar below, sharing the buzzy atmosphere without the need to get involved in the crush. Go-to dish: salt water duck with spring onion, flower bun and hoisin.

  3. Saowanees Place

    North Perth, Perth, Western Australia

Saowanee de Glanville left Thailand and started serving dishes from her home country to the good people of North Perth. Now, 30 years and stacks of accolades later, Saowanees Place is still dishing up some of the most authentic Thai in the city. All the dishes are seriously fiery, so if spice is not your thing, make sure you mention it when you order.

  4. King & I Thai Cuisine

    Guildford, Perth, Western Australia

An old house in Guildford has been converted into a spacious restaurant and that’s part of what makes The King and I such a comforting affair. The Thai costumes of the wait staff make things a little special too. Dishes are fresh, served fast and authentically flavoured. There’s no charge for corkage – an added bonus.

  5. Ploy Thai

    Maylands, Perth, Western Australia

We’re all guilty of going to our Thai fallbacks for an easy meal that’s guaranteed to satisfy. Ploy Thai in Maylands is the place you can order your spring rolls, your pad Thai and your massaman beef knowing they’re going to be tasty. This is Thai adjusted for western palettes, but if that’s what you’re looking for, this kitchen does it pretty well.

  6. Bangkok Jump Street

    Perth CBD, Perth, Western Australia

Pop up stores and food trucks are two of our favourite things and Bangkok Jump Street combines them with a Thai street food menu that is pumped out of its roving kitchen in various locations across the city. The kitchen is best-known for dishes like coconut pork skewers, crackling pork salad and pad Thai.

  7. Dusit Thai

    Northbridge, Perth, Western Australia

A Northbridge mainstay, Dusit Thai’s collection of gold plates goes right back to 1997. This is a restaurant you can count on to deliver on food, spot-on service and a comfortable dining room. Order the spicy red duck curry and your night will be truly made.

  8. Bangkok Noi Thai Cuisine

    Midland, Perth, Western Australia

Noodle-lovers, take note! This humble Midlands restaurant is the place to go for impressively long, silky noodles, whether you’re having them in a classic pad Thai or a slippery drunken noodle dish.
