La Moka is a charming split-level cafe and aperitivo bar that is making its mark on fast-blooming Peel St. The vibrant spot attracts flocks of CBD workers and creative types who jostle for seats by the big open window to watch the world go by. Chill-out with an espresso and zeppola (a deep fried spherical doughnut hailing from Southern Italy) or nibble on a share platter with a glass of vino later in the day.

Nestled under the eco-housing building at Whitmore Square, Cafe Troppo is a community focused cafe that models itself on an ethos of sustainability. The food menu is seasonal and constantly evolving. It honours South Australian produce such as local San Jose bacon and Clare Valley free-range eggs. Fair trade coffee is roasted up on Magill road, and biodynamic milk is sourced from Paris Creek. On weekends breakfast is served until 3pm. Cafe Troppo does not take bookings

Head down George St from the Thebarton Tramstop and you shall find the charming Mister Sunshine Cafe owned and operated by dynamic duo Edwin Comey and Prue Olsen. The quirky cafe has taken over from a casual American food joint, and is now serving up some quality breakfast fare. Think brioche French toast with poached fruit, toasted crumble, labne and maple syrup. Need we say more?

Located in the heritage listed Bowden Railway Station, The Loose Caboose Cafe is a contemporary dining destination with a charming aesthetic and large outdoor deck. There is an all-day breakfast menu that offers a good selection of sweet and savoury fare as well as tapas brunch selections. Coffee here is a serious affair with a thick and creamy house blend that sings caramel and hazelnut notes.

The Little Eastern is an inviting St Morris cafe where the passion for local produce is palpable. The menu has a Lebanese bent and the house specialties are Lebanese-style folded pizzas called manoushi. Coffee is also incredibly important and the team have fashioned a house blend made by Melbourne’s Dimattina. It comes with unhomogenized milk by Tweedvale or non-dairy alternatives including soy, almond and coconut.

Situated in Adelaide CBD off bustling Rundle Street, The Howling Owl is a licenced cafe by day and a cool cocktail bar by night. The eatery offers a number of grazing boards that include cheeses from the Limestone Coast, Barossa cured meats and dips from the Fleurieu Peninsula. Pair your meal with a local boutique wine or beer or perhaps a small batch gin. Their Kangaroo Island gins infused with native botanicals are a good choice.

You can expect huddles of those already, happily familiar with this Unley cafe, close to Adelaide CBD.  Settle near a welcoming bay window, and take some motherly advice - life is too short not to enjoy raspberry and white chocolate French toast - with bacon for breakfast.
