Hobart Restaurant Guide
You can drive across this little island in a matter of hours, but its capital Hobart remains the best starting point for culinary adventures. The city offers a range of modern Australian fine dining institutions, new restaurants, cute cafes and intimate wine bars lining Salamanca Place and live music venues scattered across town. For day trippers, a short drive out of town takes you into the heart of wine country, with regional restaurants and wineries dotted across areas like the Derwent Valley, Coal Valley and Ranelagh. Further north in Launceston is another pocket of award-winning eateries that specialise in dishing up fresh seafood catches from the nearby coast at Devonport and Burnie, and offering a launch pad to explore more out-of-town spots in the Rosevears and Strathlyn areas.
