Favourite international restaurant at Al-Dhiaffah Al-Iraqi
Al-Dhiaffah Al-Iraqi, 13 The Crescent, Fairfield (02) 9755 0870. It's Sydney's first Iraqi restaurant and still the best. With each mouthful, your understanding of their complex culture improves a little bit more. Lamb stew is a rich burgundy casserole, dense with chickpeas, torn pieces of flat bread and huge chunks of beef on the bone.
Special occasion at Cafe Sydney
Cafe Sydney. There's no substitute for fine food, fantastic views and efficient, unobtrusive service that feels genuinely warm. Overlooking Circular Quay, the uninterrupted view of Sydney Harbour is stunning day or night. the seared scallops is perfect for the ocean view. This is classy food without the snooty service and a view that reminds you why you love Sydney.
Best cafe at Dong Son
For three decades this Cambodian-Chinese eatery has been sending Cabramatta locals to work with a content belly. Most go for hu tieu, Phnom Penh rice noodles with both pork and chicken and plenty of offal to boot. But it's the soul satisfying broth scented with fried garlic that makes a bowl so addictive.
