Special occasion at Matteo's
Apart from the obvious Matteo's, I enjoy the clever cooking of Hare and Grace. Its set under the Rialto Tower in a pub/Tavern setting. The genius that is Raymond Capaldi never ceases to amaze me.
Best cafe at Hammer & Tong
This little place is VERY popular so I prefer to go weekdays for breakfast and avoid the weekends. Breakfast: duck egg, oyster mushrooms, truffle butter, snow pea tendrils, Fontana brioche soldiers.
The young, passionate team behind Terre gives me hope that the art of good food is alive and thriving in an ever increasing market of tacos, burgers, pizza and souvlaki! Favourite dish: ploughman's' - corned beef, cheddar, stout, pickles, potato gratin
After a hard nights work, I just stroll down for a quick burger fix. Magic mushroom burger with beer battered onion rings
Favourite international restaurant at Estelle Bar & Kitchen
A true international restaurant needs chefs who have actually cooked overseas. Both Exec Chef Scott Picket and new Head Chef Josh Pelhman certainly have that experience and it shows on the plate. Favourite dish: Crab mornay!
Best kept secret at Hell of the North
Off the ‘New-Trendy' Smith Street you enter via a bright yellow door into Hell of the North. VERY reasonably priced, beautifully cooked classic French dishes, great service and comfortable ambience. Dish I love here: Milawa Chicken Ballotine, Potatoes Lyonnaise, Pork & Foie Gras
