AMPHORAS BAR
Perth, Western Australia

Top10 Image
Proving great things come in small packages, Amphoras Bar is lighting up a little pocket of West Perth's office strip. The restaurant's European-style tapas dishes are perfectly suited to the bar's Spanish wines and the whole fitout buzzes along with the cool jazz beats piping across the room. If you're looking for a more adventurous drink, Amphoras has a cool cocktail list and a range of Aussie and imported beer.

Oh, I'm back in Barcelona. Albeit in a slightly more classy bar than those I usually frequent. This is no turista money trap. Well, the tables are clean for a start. And the cutlery all matches. The staff are friendly - they all speak English, though some of them are Irish - and the maitre d' rules with an iron fist. The food is magnificent. There's Spanish beer and Spanish wine, patatas bravas better than you get in Las Ramblas (but then Las Ramblas is the tourist strip) and the clientele looks as though it stepped straight out of Scoop magazine. Hasta la vista, baby!
