DETAILS
Jamie Oliver is known for creating big, bold flavour, and the interior of his Perth restaurant presents no less. The large, Martin Brudnizki-designed space is busy, yet relaxed; contrasting statement décor such as retro red leather booths and an opulent chandelier create quirky charm, which is really what people love about Jamie himself. Pale wooden furniture and metal, bright green stools give a subtle nod to the red, white and green of the Italian flag.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Though many have endured long lines and hour-long waits to sample the fare at Jamie's Italian, all say that it is absolutely worth it – and that they would do it all again. The extensive menu beckons multiple visits, but dishes that have the crowds raving include slow braised fennel sausage ragu with red wine, parmesan and breadcrumbs, a giant game meatball served atop creamy polenta, and of course, the famous crispy polenta chips. A basket of house made bread comes complimentary in true Italian style, and gluten-free pasta can be subbed for those who wish to enjoy a wheat-free bowl. If you are caught waiting for a table, a house cocktail at the bar is sure to help time pass. Try the Florence Fizz, with limoncello, pomegranate juice, elderflower cordial and prosecco.
