We recently had a lovely evening at the Anchorage. Try and grab a spot by the window so you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lights of Melbourne city from across the water. The restaurant was full and this added to a pleasant atmosphere. The back ground music was nice and I was happy, unlike some other restaurants it was not to loud and we had no problem to converse over a nice bottle of wine. The wine list was good and reasonable priced.
There were some interesting things on the Menu. For a Entree I had the yummy Button mushrooms and my friend had the Macadamia prawns. The Anchorage is primary a seafood restaurant. still as a non seafood person. I came away happy. For the main I had the Roasted Venison which was nicely presented and tasted divine. Was pretty full when it came to deser. I can now recommend the Sticky date pudding which my friend and i shared.
The service was of a good standard and the staff were friendly I must say I hadn't read any of the other reviews before our visit. I am surprised with some of the comments. Pleased I hadn't seen them as it probably would have put me off a bit.
Overall it was a very nice evening that unfortunately will not be able to work our way through the Menu as we are only visitors to Melbourne. ( We did make it back for lunch later in the week) Those of you Who are lucky enough to live here will be able to enjoy the Anchorage time and time again.
