PROFILE BY BEST RESTAURANTS
With the highest Greek population outside of Greece, or so I'm told, it's no wonder Greek favourites like Othello aspire to and effortlessly manage to recreate traditional Geek fare in the heart of our beautiful city. With a prime Southbank position, Othello specialises in modern and traditional Greek and Cypriot cuisine. Their set banquet menu is a favourite with first-timers, giving diners the choice to sample much of the tempting fare on offer. Ambience is further enhanced with live Greek music and belly dancing.
Start with an entree of octopodixidato: pickled or seasonal chargrilled octopus on a bed of mixed greens. Follow with a main such as the recommended kleftiko: a traditional dish of spring lamb cooked slowly in its own juices and served with sputna potatoes. Finish with the galatopaureko: Greek-style filo and custard slice. Alternatively, choose the banquet set menu for two or more (make sure you have an appetite), which includes dolmades and saganaki for entree, calamari, chargrilled prawns, or a meat platter of lamb and chicken souvlaki for main, and a selection of Greek sweets and coffee to finish. Othello offers a good selection of imported beer, wine and ouzo to make your meal complete.
