South Melbourne has always lacked a standard beyond a Parma & chips and over priced wines from unwelcoming junior staff. A customer told me to brave crossing Kings Way for a decent lunch & I'm so happy I did! The staff treat you like old friends, they can make a propped coffee, the menu selection is so varied & all sound too good. My problem is I literally wanted to try everything. I loved the decor, its fresh faced and classy meets funky retro with these amazing mirrors!
Spend 5 minutes walking from Claredon's dodgy $16 sandwiches, get some sunshine on your break & see for yourself. I'm a naturopath, vegetarian foodie and a huge coffee snob - Downstairs is by far an impressive little find for our community. I'll be back with my team for Friday night knock off drinks and dinner! Thanks for the heads up Ash, you're right, I love it.

Very friendly service, very good, fresh food for a good price. The coffes are fantastic, specially in the mornings. A good selection of wines and beers, If you are nearby, give it a chance!
