It's all very well to say a café is cool when you've read about it in a mag that tells you its so.
It's another thing completely, to say a place is cool when it hasn't had the hype.
And it's even harder still when it does pretty much what everyone else is doing -and although most, not ALL of it better- but there's just something about it that makes you want to come back.
So on a recent visit I was pondering what it was that made me want to return evry few days..
Sevenam café may not stand out amongst the too-kool-for-skool Melbourne avantgarde, and your avergae Joe or Judy may not pick up on the subtle differences that make this place special.
What makes sevenam worthy of my hard-earned cash, is not just yummy food or great coffee or good service. Its not the nice music or the funky grass out front or the comfy courtyard.
Instead that which makes it special is that which lies at the core of all of the above.
It's the palpable heart and soul of sevenam café that makes it worth crossing town for.
So now you know what I do when I need some me-time, or need to do my work in a new setting, meet a client, or catch a friend somewhere I don't have to shout; I get off my behind and take my little self down to bay street.
Sevenam is my antidote to the mundane. My little slice of heart. Simple.
Not only is the food damm good, the air is fresh, the smiles are warm, and the coffee is amazing.
