PALOMINO
Melbourne, Victoria

Top10 Image
A stylish little café and restaurant on High Street, Palomino is wonderfully homey and kitsch, with small ornaments lining the bright blue feature wall. Step inside this small space and discover an all day brunch menu with plenty of vegetarian options, and dinners influenced by South American staples, perhaps washed down with a cocktail jug or two.

I've been coming to Palominos for years, sitting for hours in the warm-in-winter, cool-in-summer back room and working on my laptop while I drink excellent coffee after excellent coffee. I usually have a muffin for breakfast but they do great cooked food as well. The avocado and fetta is great with cracked pepper. They also have a wide selection of rolls and wraps for lunch which I believe they do take-away. Most days they sell out of my favourite, the chicken wrap. At night time, it changes from a busy cafe to a laid back restaurant. They have a great selection of south-west American inspired food (the menu says 'slaw' and 'fried' a lot). But the best part of Palominos is the service. The staff are friendly and the owner, Emily, is a hoot. TIP - If you're around at closing time, you might get a free muffin.
