HELLENIC REPUBLIC
Melbourne, Victoria

Top10 Image
Hellenic Republic has livened up the sleepy end of Lygon Street with its passion for bringing people together over a good meal. Obviously, the menu is Greek, but with George Calombaris at the helm, you can expect dishes that are just as satisfying as, though a little more refined than, yiayia's. In true European style, the menu is designed to be shared. Be sure to taste whatever's on the spit roast in the courtyard - it's the key to eating Greek.

This restaurant is the answer to healthy, delicious, inspiring dining. My husband and I go there as regularly as possible. We live on the Mornington Peninsula and make special trips to come and have a fabulous meal. We take as many of our foodie friends with us whenever we can. The ambience is relaxed and friendly with chat between the tables as the diners enjoy each course. It is one of the VERY few restaurants in Melbourne that have heard of vegetables, pulses and grains and embrace them. The slow cooked lamb is gorgeous! The haloumi with figs is an inspiration. George Colombaris, you have made us very happy people. EFCHARISTO POLY !!!
