Every neighbourhood should have one. An easy place to meet for coffee, chitchat, and a good feed to fuel conversation. Sorelle at Magill is a quaint little eatery that serves classic Italian dishes. There is a sense of community here and you never know who you may run into. On this occasion for the reviewer, it was her old high school principal and the faces of teachers' past!
Pasta is made fresh daily to ensure lovely, light flavours. Call ahead and have a dozen natural oysters, char-grilled quail with lemon, or veal scaloppine with chilli cream sauce to take home. Pasta ‘boxes' may be opened to reveal seafood risotto, spaghetti aglio with pancetta and pine nuts, or prawn fettuccine with orange zest, Cointreau and burnt butter. Yes, there is gourmet pizza, and yes, all these dishes are on the regular menu - but there is also novelty (perhaps not practicality) in being able to summon a 350g MSA grade, grain-fed scotch fillet with demi glaze to take away - although it may not travel well. It is also hard to resist a decadent dessert pizza with toppings inspired by the humble Cherry Ripe bar.
