Terrible! - 26/10/2012
Went to lash for High tea with my mother for my birthday and was extreamely disappointed! Had a booking for 2pm and had to wait over half an hour for our food to arrive. When it did it was so underwhelming. The tiniest sandwiches you could imagine, a few little morsels of cake and a couple of scones with curdelled cream.

I have a young niece whose diet is strictly GF. I was thrilled to be able to take her to a cafe where she had choice and where I could be confident that menu choices were GF. The service was a bit slow, but there are worse things than that to worry about.
Another Brisbane disaster - 23/05/2012
I was asked what I wanted the minute I came in the door before I had even had a look at what was on offer. On viewing nothing new (banana bread and almond croissant anyone?). Thought I'd try the pumpkin soup with baguette even though $10 sounded a bit steep for it, but was told "sorry, the kitchen is closed" Me: What time does it close? Reply: 2 o'clock. This was at 2.15! Couldn't someone have warmed it up for me?? Coffee cup was tiny so I ordered a mug - one of the worst coffees I have ever tasted and at $4.80 not cheap - warm, insipid, weak as dish water and the thing that I always find distasteful - I order a skinny flat white and it has a third cup of froth on top. Was going to ask if I could have another with an extra shot but couldn't bear the blank looks I'd get from the young-uns behind the counter. A real pity as I can actually walk to this cafe. But no reason to return.

Being gluten intolerant I thought this cafe would be a haven. The service was appalling - not only did we have to source our own menus the order was not taken until 45 mins after we sat down. The meals were ordinary (GF and non-GF) and we were ignored once our plates were taken away. Maybe it was because we had a prepaid voucher. Maybe it was because I didn't take my Gucci handbag.

I have visited Lash many times, and each time I have been very pleased with the food and service. The decor is great, and Lash has such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food - gluten free and 'normal' is delicious, and my coffee has always been perfect. There is always an interesting range of sweets. An extra touch is the interesting jewellery that is on sale there as well.

I had breakfast with 3 others. Our coffees all came out with significant time delays between them and the babycino was hot. The egg in the child's meal was supposed to be soft boiled, but the white was still runny, while my baked eggs contained egg shell and my sisters omelette left a pool of water in the bottom of her plate. A real shame.
