An oasis of good eating in Sydney city, Fix St James is modest in its decor. A good-looking bar fronts the entrance with its eye catching ‘Voice of the People Demi John' wine carafe sitting smugly on the counter. The tables aren't laden with white linen, but their bare mahogany surfaces are sophisticated without. The restaurant is split over two levels with larger group table's up-top, and a beautiful caged wine feature along the back wall.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Food and wine matching is a passion for owner and sommelier Stuart Knox and Chef Alasdair McKenna. There's plenty of movement on the refined menu, underpinned by a few stellar standards in the pasta and meat departments. You'll be hard pressed to eschew the quality, although the prices may have you reaching deep into your pockets. Nevertheless the unique menu is designed to ensure a quality selection of innovative lunch and dinner ideas that accompanies a spectacularly well-rounded wine list. If choosing your drop becomes too overwhelming, just opt for the House Juice. It's downright delicious and excellent value. The chef's choice menus including the Quick Fix (5 dishes to share at 49pp) or Fix Me Up (6 dishes to share at 59pp) are an especially good way to go with a group.
The restaurant offers dinners or cocktail events, either exclusively, or in the raised area of the restaurant. The raised level will accommodate 25 people for dinner or 40 for a cocktail party. The entire venue will seat up to 60 people or accommodate 80 standing.
