From Mauro Marcucci – the man behind Melbourne's famed Caffe e Cucina restaurant— comes Baccomatto Osteria. Attached to the Cambridge Hotel on Riley Street, just across the road from the Surry Hills Police Station, Baccomatto Osteria is a cross between a smart cafe by day and ritzy Italian osteria in the evening.

Go whilst you can still get a table. My partner and I had dinner tonight at Baccomotto, in the Cambridge Hotel in Surry Hills. The food was fantastic with an impressive wine list thats reasonably priced. The service was impressive and the wait staff was knowledgable and helpful with Italian accent. The restaurant fitout was cool and inviting. We are locals and are so happy that finally an osteria in the neighbourhood, for all day eating and a cool place to hang out. Will definitely be back!

Excellent service from friendly staff and very nice food. The home-made focaccia bread was beautiful. Good selection of wine. Impressive, modern fit out and not too loud, either. One to take overseas guests too, for sure.

My partner and friends and I dined at this new Italian restaurant in Surry Hills tonight, and the food was amazing. It was the best meal we've eaten in Sydney for quite some time. We shared a degustation menu and every course was an exercise in how to thrill the tastebuds. The decor is clean and simple; the ambience is suave and unpretentious. Standouts included the calamari, white bait, stuffed zucchini flowers, risotto and capparcio. We felt like we were in Manhattan.
