WOODLAND KITCHEN AND BAR
Sydney, New South Wales

Top10 Image
Neutral Bay, on Sydney's North Shore, has a reputation for being a little bit posh. But you can take your gloves off if you're dining at Woodland Kitchen and Bar; this is a restaurant that welcomes young and old, without pretences, into its elegant wood-panelled dining room. The menu here is Modern Australian and dominated by the kitchen's fabulous woodfire grill. You don't have to fuss here, just get on with the socialising.

DETAILS

Woodlands couldn't be a more appropriate name for this restaurant. Strips of blonde wood lining the ceiling and wood panelling on the booths lends an elegant, casual vibe to the dining room. The woodfire grill of slow-burning charcoal with ironbark timber that imbues dishes with a delicious smokiness and depth of flavour. This is not a restaurant re-inventing the wheel or jumping on a fad, it is doing simple, quality dishes, well.

MR Food - 4/03/2014
Woodland has taken over where Pony used to be and what has changed, is the food and service. It was all excellent - the citrus cured salmon; the grilled ciabatta with whipped fetta Followed by a grass fed fillet - cooked rare and to perfection with slightly roasted baby carrots and shallots - a house special burger on well charred bun and topped with zesty cheddar, a spicy chutney and not enough chips for me to share with the table and a plate of potato gnocchi, burnt, roasted pumpkin, walnuts tossed in burnt butter - gave the three of us a good idea of how good Woodlands is going to become. Keep up the good work and look forward to a long and happy future.
