PROFILE BY BEST RESTAURANTS
A little cottage set halfway up the crest of the hill that winds between Curl Curl and Dee Why beaches, Emelia's is a little room busting with homely goodness. Despite the simple furnishings of polished floorboards and bare tables, the soft cushioned seating, warm atmosphere and earthy smells wafting from the kitchen beg you to linger. Filled with locals every night of the week, Emelia's serves a wholly vegetarian menu that will challenge your regular dining habits. Ever tried chocolate zucchini cake? If not, you should – it's delicious.
The lack of meat is barely noticeable because the food is so tasty. The chickpea and vegetable curry served with dahl, tzatziki, rice and poppadums is so yum, the only reason to order anything else is if they've run out. Lucky this does happen, or you would never chance upon the lentil and coconut soup or fabulous nacho rolls with chilli bean spread, corn chips, grilled cheese, light sour cream and salad. Service can be a bit patchy at times, but perhaps that goes with the territory. Just chill out and enjoy the vibe and the cheap prices and you'll walk away warm of belly and strong of heart.
