The name means "brothers by the sea" and is a play on the fact that this popular local is run by two brothers-in-law. Local residents themselves, the Pauls have between them enough experience to know what makes a good local: fresh food and a friendly atmosphere. The latter is no problem for the bubbly and conversable lot who will have you feeling right at home in no time. The former – freshness – is key to the success of this restaurant. With no cool room to speak of, they cook what they source daily and therefore are completely in tune with what's seasonal and best. As a result, those in the know will give you the following tip-off: order from the daily specials board to experience the breadth of this kitchen.
The restaurant is one of the most popular in the area, so it is necessary to book in advance for one of the two Saturday night sittings. The food is Italian, labour-intensive food that uses great Aussie produce, seafood, meat and even game. Favourites include the Pizzetta Aglio for a starter (garlic and oregano based pizza, served with tomato passata and basil pesto). For mains, Linguine con Scampi (scampi, spanner crab meat, cherry tomatoes, anchovy, chili, basil and extra virgin olive oil tossed with linguine pasta) and Black Angus Beef (with desiree wedges, roasted baby mushrooms, beetroot and red wine reduction). Finish with Tiramisu Fratelli (sponge fingers soaked in Kahlua and espresso layered between, chocolate zabaglione, mascarpone and cream) or Affogato (vanilla ice cream, espresso coffee, amaretto or frangelico liqueur and biscotti). Heavenly!
The whole restaurant can be made available for exclusive use on Sundays and Mondays for birthdays, christenings, weddings, engagements and corporate events upon request for groups up to 100. Please contact the restaurant for more info.
