Plane Icon New Zealand The Little Bistro

Top10 Image
Akaroa may have an indigenous name, but the atmosphere of this small seaside town is more ‘merci' than ‘maori'. Known for its provincial French character, Akaroa is home to a handful of delightful local eateries including the snug but much loved Little Bistro. A bold stripy awning and delicate French café-style tables line the outside of this gorgeously compact cottage. Once inside, the manager and front of house keeps the wine and repartee flowing, and personally greets each incoming diner. This is the kind of place where old-fashioned service reigns. Water carafes are always full and meals miraculously arrive at the same time. A miscellany of wine bottles line high shelves mounted on the whitewashed walls, and a quirky assortment of chairs and tables clutter atop the warm, polished wood floor. The atmosphere is as opulent as French cheese and as warm as the New Zealand summertime.
