Lyndey Milan's Profile

Lyndey Milan OAM, Australian home cook hero, combines a thirst for life and a sense of fun with a love of good food and sparkling shiraz. A familiar face on television and in print, she been instrumental in changing the way Australians think and feel about food and wine for thirty years.

Hospitality of the table is her catchphrase, as evidenced by her numerous television appearances, eight best-selling books and countless culinary appearances over the years as she maintains her position at the forefront of Australian cuisine.

In 2014 Lyndey was awarded an OAM in the Australia Day Honours List for services to hospitality, the food and wine industry and the community. Since 2011 Lyndey has hosted five television series and is finishing a sixth, Lyndey Milan's Baking Secrets this month. In her latest on-air series, Lyndey Milan's Taste of Australia, she unearths the characters, places and pastures which make up the backbone of a thriving culinary culture. This series is currently on Qantas Inflight and 7TWO and will be on LifeStyle FOOD later in the year. In 2013 Lyndey Milan's Taste of Ireland, screened on 7TWO and LifeStyle FOOD and Lyndey's Cracking Christmas, also screened on LifeStyle FOOD as well as New Zealand Food TV. Her other recent series include Lyndey & Herbie's Moveable Feast, co-hosted with spice king Ian ‘Herbie' Hemphill and Lyndey & Blair's Taste of Greece which follows Lyndey and her late actor son and co-host Blair on a tour of the Peloponnese seeking culinary delights and adventure.

Lyndey appeared with Anthony Bourdain when he was filming in Australia, taking him to Tetsuya's restaurant and was featured in Rick Stein's Seafood Odyssey. During her years on Fresh on the Nine Network Australia, she regularly hosted such visiting chefs as Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein and Gordon Ramsay. Lyndey is a popular regular guest on the Nine Network's Morning Show and was previously co–host of Fresh for over eight years.

Lyndey has published eight books including Lyndey & Blair's Taste of Greece, Lyndey Milan, the Best Collection, Just Add Spice (co-authored with Ian Hemphill) and Balance, Matching Food and Wine, What Works and Why (with Colin Corney) which won Best Food and Wine Writing at the 2006 Australian Food Media Awards. The book to accompany Lyndey Milan's Taste of Australia, her ninth will be released later this year.

As well as media appearances, books and her production company, Lyndey runs a consultancy business which includes public speaking, appearances, cooking classes and demonstrations, food and wine appreciation classes and advising food and wine clients – in fact anything to do with food, wine, agriculture and lifestyle. Lyndey also sits on Tourism Australia's Food and Wine Advisory Committee.
