I have read the other posts on La Scala and can only assume that they have new ownership or new chefs or something similar. This was the first time that I had been to La Scala and it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in Canberra. The setting was elegant without anything being over the top and the service was attentive but not intrusive. I had the chicken and mushroom risotto for mains and my wife had a prawn and pasta dish with a gin cream sauce!! My meal was absolutely fabulous, balanced and with layered flavours that was as good as any Ive had in Canberra. My wifes dish was only a very short step behind my risotto and we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience with simply cracking food and there is no doubt we will be back many times. Total cost for two mains a shared entree and two glasses of wine was $86 and for this quality, that is fantastic value.

Impressed! We dined at La Scala as a party of 8 and were all impressed. We shared some mixed entrees for starters in the middle, and then we all chose our main course. They all stood out. My veal cutlet was outstanding. The steak eaters at the table were also very happy. The desert menu is very well written and makes you want to order. This turned out to be a good thing as some of us found out. My one frustration is that there simply wasn't enough room for all our entrees on the table. The breads and drinks took most of the room. Bigger tables would be welcomed. Other than that, the service was thoughtful. Our waiter was quite attentive and charming when he came around, but our young waitress was a bit lost at times. An enjoyable evening had by all!

We spent a Sat night dining here. It was busy & a little slow service wise but the food was magnificent. The Scallopine la Scala was of medium "heat" which was just perfect. The vegetarian pasta was the best my wife has ever tasted which is saying something! The Belgian dessert was then a great way to finsh off the meal. Thoroughly recommended.
