Located in the heart of Fitzroy, Hammer and Tong is is the brainchild of Chef Simon Ward (of Duke's Café and Roasters in Windsor) and Dennis Ferreira (Jacques Reymond sommelier). Expect great coffee from barista Pim Muter and the cafe's Kees Van De Westen Spirit espresso machine, fed with Duke's coffee. The menu is a fusion of high-end dining techniques and cafe casualness, think salads with duck eggs and truffles for breakfast.

This little place is VERY popular so I prefer to go weekdays for breakfast and avoid the weekends. Breakfast: duck egg, oyster mushrooms, truffle butter, snow pea tendrils, Fontana brioche soldiers.
