DETAILSPrats de Lluçanès, a small municipality in the Osona county, lies just an hour’s drive from bustling Barcelona. Here, in partnership with his wife Rosa, chef Angel Pascual established Restaurant Lluçanès in 1991. Applying his unique culinary vision to the surrounding region’s abundant supply of specialty produce, including game, wild mushrooms, truffles and pulses, the unassuming restaurant was soon awarded a coveted Michelin star. Downtown, the ever-evolving dining scene promised new challenges to the provincial restaurant team, who eventually packed up for a Barcelona-bound relocation.
Newly situated above Els Fogons de la Barceloneta, the city’s bustling produce market, Restaurant Lluçanès swapped countryside environs for a post-industrial ambience dominated by sky-high ceilings, a metal-meets-grey colour palette, exposed steel beams and oversized factory lamps. The Barceloneta suburb is one emblematic of dynamic urban life, flocked to by hip locals and bordering the Mediterranean; a backdrop Pascual has drawn upon for new culinary creations that remain true to his restaurant’s original ethos.
