DETAILSAfter staying in the luxury rooms, visiting the deluxe spa and dining at the hotel’s own top restaurants, guests at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok can make their stay in Thailand all the more memorable with a hands-on Thai cooking class. Thai people are known for their warm, genuine hospitality as well as their delicious cuisine, and it is these essential elements that are transferred to the Oriental Cooking School located within the hotel.
CLASSESWhile hotel guests regularly take advantage of these on-site classes, visitors are also welcome to take part in the lessons, which are conducted daily from Monday to Saturday. Classes can be attended on a one-off basis (approximately AU$120 per person) or as a five nights/six days or three nights/four days package programme. These packages each include a limousine transfer to and from the airport, a welcome dinner at the hotel’s Sala Rim Naam restaurant, jet lag-recovery massage, nightly accommodation and the cooking classes.
Cooking classes are centred around authentic Thai menus that change with each day. Take, for example, Mondays – this luncheon shows students how to prepare laab hed (northeastern-style mushroom salad), moo phad prik soad (stir-fried pork with chillies and onions), gaeng gai sai fak (red chicken curry) and gluay thawd (sweet banana fitters).
