DETAILSThe KOI aesthetic is a stylish, harmonious blend of custom-made furniture, red light and dark wooden floors that follows the rigors of Feng Shui. A tunnel of dark glass lit with candles makes for a beautiful entrance, where guests are whisked away into a sleek dining room with its melange of clean-cut dark tables and booth style seating. Moody lighting washes the room in a subdued glow, which subtly illuminates the ruby hued feature walls, and adds an element of soft drama to the space.
FOOD & BEVERAGEThe cuisine at KOI features an array of modern Japanese flavours with a Californian twist, and a blend of innovate and traditional dishes including salads, soups, sushi and hot meals. Deluxe ingredients are transformed into sumptuous main dishes such as nori-crusted prawns with seared wagyu beef and ginger soy glaze, or grilled duck breast atop wasabi-scented sweet potato cakes with ginger plum sauce. Koi has a range of signature dishes, which come highly recommended and include the likes of scallop ceviche with apples, fresh pineapple and yuzu, a vibrant dish of yellowtail carpaccio with oven roasted garlic and peppers as well as a tall-topped plate of creamy rock shrimp tempura. Beware of the bill: Quality does not come cheap.
