DETAILS With years of experience up her sleeve, Sally is well accustomed to the foodie lifestyle. She has dabbled in catering, home meal delivery services, and opening up numerous restaurants across Melbourne, which was only just the beginning of her gastronomic escapade. Sally now lives in Brisbane and owns the Loaded Larder, which was initially a production kitchen but has developed into a thriving business supplying cafes and coffee shops with wholesale café foods. She combines her passions for good food and travel to deliver weekly cooking classes and food treks.
LOCAL FOOD TREKS Local food treks consist of the Gourmet Shopping Trek and the Asian Shopping Trek. On the gourmet tour, trekkers will visit Brisbane’s gourmet hotspots from delis, to cheese specialists and butchers, and conclude with a delicious local lunch.
The Asian Shopping expedition can be undertaken in one of three distinct areas: Sunnybank, Fortitude Valley or Inala. Each trip offers an inside look at vibrant market places and specialist sweet and spice shops, which will leave senses buzzing.
Weekend foodie treks to Strandbroke Island and Stanthorpe are also on the menu.
INTERNATIONAL FOOD TREKS Taste Trekkers offer two international food tours to Vietnam and Spain, which provide travellers with a unique holiday experience full of authentic local cuisine, sight-seeing and excellent cooking advice.
VIETNAM Now in its 3rd year, the Vietnam trip will provide trekkers with a chance to eat and cook their way around Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. Guests will be invited to experience the culture of Vietnam by partaking in street food crawls, market tours, and cooking classes with chefs and local families.
SPAIN Trekkers will be invited to journey through the stunning beauty of Spain where the emphasis on good food and wine lies at the forefront of this voyage. Eat and drink your way through Barcelona, Sant Sadurni d’Anoia, Priorat, Delta de L’Ebre and San Sebastian. From tantalizing tapas, local market tours, Catalan feasts and visits to the local cava (sparkling wine) winery, each day will be a foodie’s fiesta. The trip culminates in a fantastic food finale as guests are treated to an 8 course degustation menu at 3 Michelin-starred Arzak restaurant.
