Located at the gateway to the Swan Valley in Guildford, 20 minutes drive east of the Perth CBD.

The Rose & Crown is not merely a hotel but an establishment which pays respect to its past while embracing the future. Built in 1840, the inn was regularly used as a public meeting place, housing meetings for the agricultural society, the Town Trust and court hearings. The Cellar Bar features the original water well built by the convicts and was used by the Hotel to brew its own ales. History is further embedded with remnants of an underground tunnel linking the Hotel with the banks of the Swan River. It is also rumoured that notorious bushranger Moondyne Joe used the Rose & Crown as a hideout from the law adding to the colourful history of the Hotel. Today, the Georgian-style building stands as one of the few privately owned historic establishments in WA and is a majestic example of Australian architecture and hospitality.

If its tradition that you're after, the 1841 Restaurant is your best bet. The dining room exudes charm and grace of yesteryear and offers an ambient dining experience. Most dishes are available in small and large serves, giving the diner plenty of choice when it comes to selecting entrees and mains. If you’re in the mood to dine alfresco, discover the extensive grounds of the Rose & Crown. The vast half acre site is immaculately maintained featuring various bar and dining areas amongst established garden beds with many of the plants and trees dating back to the 1840's, including the first ever rose bush in WA. For indoor occasions, the Posh Convict Lounge and Bar has a classy, modern fit-out, and is a great place to lounge and nibble on tapas.

The vastness of the Rose & Crown presents a variety of choices when booking for your next social or corporate function. Featuring areas such as the intimate Cellar Bar, the historic Chapel Hall or the stylish surroundings of the Posh Convict Lounge, the Rose & Crown can accommodate up to 100 people for a banquet-style event.

The Rose and Crown features four Heritage Suites and 28 Lodge Rooms. The Heritage Suites named Gold, Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald are located on the upper level of the hotel, luxuriously appointed with classic 19th century furnishings, elegant drapery and bed linen. In contrast, flat screen plasma TV's and Wi-Fi internet connection keeps the suites in close check with modern requirements.

Rose & Crown - User Reviews

Great venue probably the best pub beer garden I have seen in Australia. Food is bistro style but this place is a long way from being a bistro must have been 300 that day for lunch. I had oysters with lime sorbet & they were fresh & fantastic followed by a surf & turf - very 80s but delivered like a true classic. My partner had the duck pate & market fish to follow. We washed it down with a lovely local verdelho from the Swan Valley. Somehow we managed to fit in & share a tiramisu, they must have an Italian pastry chef. It was fresh & perfect with balanced flavours. The bar was very busy so getting drinks was a bit slow all were staff friendly & happy personal. When back in the Eastern suburbs I will be back for  25/03/2012
