LOCATIONSituated on the tip of Point Walter Reserve and located just ten minutes away from Fremantle, Walter’s River Cafe provides a fantastic meeting point for friends or families or an ideal venue for weddings and conferences.
PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAIt’s not often you stumble across a venue like Walter’s River Cafe. Located at Point Walter Reserve, opposite the historic Point Walter Jetty and infamous sandbar, this restaurant and kiosk boasts relaxed surroundings where you can let the kids run free by day or enjoy an intimate meal by night. High pitched ceilings, timber floors and magnificent sunsets create a relaxing environment where you can kick back, relax and indulge in the glorious fresh food Walter’s has on offer. The menu may strike you as short and sweet but rest assured, chef Corinna Farmer knows what she is doing. Focusing on only the freshest seasonal produce available and priding herself on presentation, Corinna certainly knows how to raise a few eyebrows. Her meals leave the kitchen as individual pieces of artwork, making it very hard for diners to know where to start!
But once you taste the first mouthful of starters like the Cajun spiced calamari or the raviolo of pumpkin, goat’s cheese and walnut, you’ll quickly forget what the dish once looked like as you experience Corinna’s amazing blends of flavours and textures. Having a choice of five main dishes usually makes for an easy decision, but when you read the ingredients and imagine the flavours of Corinna’s selection rolling about on your palate, the decision becomes much harder. The rag pasta with prawns and grilled scotch fillet are both popular choices but it’s the braised citrus and soy duck and the salmon saltimbocca that show Corinna’s true culinary capabilities. Desserts are a simple choice of cinnamon mousse with poached pear or a chocolate custard tart with Chantilly cream. Walter’s River Cafe is a delightful restaurant for indulging with that special someone or for a quick lunch while watching the kids splash about in the river.
