The recent overhaul of Perth’s Wesley Centre has been one of the most anticipated redevelopments that make up the city’s impressive new look. The new precinct has become a beacon for shoppers interested in high-end fashion labels such as Emporio Armani, Burberry and Alannah Hill. And when it comes to shopping I, for one, need a break and usually a stiff drink after a few hours of damaging the credit card. That’s where The Quarter restaurant comes to the rescue. Located in the heart of the Wesley Quarter, just opposite the Wesley Church, this restaurant has an interior to rival its extremely fashionable neighbours.

A colour scheme of pale blue and brown with fabric printed banquettes and booths lends plenty of sophistication to this little place which has fast become a hotspot for those in need of a quick coffee fix or sumptuous lunch. Speaking of food, the menu has been designed to appease those who know and expect good quality fare, as you might expect considering its surroundings. The short and sweet menu is uncomplicated and easy to choose from, especially with starters like spicy rare beef and lemon salad or Stilton and white onion tart with roast pears and rocket. There’s also a lovely daily-changing tasting plate that’s perfect for grazers. If your shopping spree has sent your appetite into overdrive, then you might need something from the mains menu to fill that big void. The goat’s cheese gnocchi is a fairly light yet very tasty option as is the Thai fish cake with pak choy. Serious hunger contenders might want to give the Angus sirloin or the duck confit a little more consideration. Just ensure you’ve left enough money in your shopping budget to pay your bill!
