LOCATIONAt the river end of Coode Street in South Perth, minutes from the city.
PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIA Perched on the banks of the Swan River in South Perth, The Boatshed is one restaurant that has no doubt seen many a marriage proposal. Its polished timber floors, high ceilings and crisp white tablecloths create a comfortable interior where you can sit back, relax and take in the twinkling city lights across the river. Dreamy-eyed couples and wedding anniversaries aside, there’s plenty to love on the menu. Fresh seafood is the mainstay at The Boatshed, but there is also a handful of alternative dishes for anyone not too keen on the fruits of the sea. These include entrees like beef filo and mains like pancetta and sage-wrapped chicken.
However if seafood is one of your most beloved foods, you’re in for a mighty treat. Freshly shucked oysters, calamari with potato straws and sizzling garlic prawns kick off the menu before heading into more serious seafood territory. The king snapper fillet and farfalle with prawns are both lovely dishes, but The Boatshed seafood feast for two is worth forking out the extra cash for. Warning – this dish is for dedicated seafood lovers only. Starting with smoked Norweigan salmon and Waldorf salad, pickled octopus and fresh Ceduna oysters, you’ll be well primed for the main course. And what a magnificent course it is – sizzling garlic prawns served in a clay pot, semolina calamari with rocket aioli, Jurien Bay scallops, chilli mussels and a grilled fillet of Gold Band snapper are enough to send any well-honed seafood palate into overdrive. If you’re thinking of indulging in this larger-than-life dish, I highly recommend completing your meal with one of The Boatshed’s delicious desserts and coffee.
