Calling all lovers of Italian food! If you haven’t visited Maurizio Restaurant, it’s quite possible you are yet to sample some of Perth’s finest Italian cuisine. Training exclusively at Italy’s Villa Santa Maria before moving to Perth and being awarded the coveted Alinta Gas Maitre’D of the Year Award, Maurizio Di Ciano opened his namesake restaurant in 2002. He also received an Honour Award from the Restaurant and Catering Industry Association of Western Australia for his dedication and professionalism to our state’s hospitality industry. So with this in mind, diners at Maurizio Restaurant usually have very high expectations of food and service, all of which are met with flying colours.

The menu is based on traditional Italian cuisine hailing from the central Italian region of Abruzzo where Maurizio grew up. Simple, pared-back dishes featuring fresh seafood, game meats and other delicacies are easy to fall in love with at this restaurant, not to mention the faultless and attentive service lead by Maurizio himself. When dining Italian, my tendency is to always begin with the antipasti or another light dish such as beef carpaccio, both of which are impeccably fresh and traditional here. Starting light gives you more belly room to accommodate mains such as Maurizio’s signature dish of capretto arrosto (roasted baby goat marinated with garlic, olive oil and rosemary) or the braised farm rabbit with capers and white wine. Those not too keen on game will delight in other dishes like the marinated and grilled seafood, the roasted rack of pork with sage, garlic and olive oil and the popular fish of the day. Just make sure you leave enough room for the homemade tiramisu or pannacotta – the perfect way to end a heavenly Italian meal.

Maurizio Restaurant hosted my daughters wedding reception for 85 people. The event was perfect from begining to end. Marco the host was fantastic. The staff could not be faulted. The food was tremendous. The wine was superb. The evening was unforgetable. The price was right. We have 4 more children and if they are happy to use the same venue we will go back every timereview  08/07/2012

My partner and I went to the Liguria night a few Saturdays ago at Maurizio's. Initially we wanted to do a la carte but the explanation from the events manager tempted us towards the set menu. I'm so happy we did! Absolutely delicious! I really loved the asparagus ravioli, and the beef was to die for! The boy loved all the seafood especially the fish wings and whitebait! The entertainment was great, and really made you feel like you were in a little slice of Italy. I can't wait for the next one this weekend and will definitely be going - its Tuscany!review  11/04/2012
