In a venue where opulence and class are at the forefront, the interior beholds distinct Hollywood style with black and gold striped wall paper, golden lighting, luxurious lounges and a dramatic feature of a very sexy blonde.
Owned by Peter Bell, the former captain of the Fremantle Dockers, no expense has been spared in creating this supper club. Judging by the clientele of affluent locals, ‘Perthonalities’ and those wanting to be part of the ‘in’ crowd, the concept is a huge hit.
Glitz and glamour aside, Malt is primarily a late night bar, yet the food matches the class of the venue. The menu is based on grazing or sharing dishes, but don’t let this turn you off Malt as a dining destination – it would certainly be one to remember. As well as gourmet pizzas and ‘toasties’ (a surprisingly unpretentious menu item), there are a wide range of nibbly plates, cheeseboards and sushi platters, and after enjoying a few of these, you’ll be pleasantly satisfied. Oysters natural, grilled chorizo and pan-fried calamari with a delicious smoked chilli aioli are the perfect accompaniment for a classic martini, or if wine is more your favour, perhaps try the arancini and golden fried brie. With its oozy innards breaking through the crisp coating with every bite, I could happily consume this brie for hours on end.
As Malt is intended for mature clientele, it’s a fabulous place to visit for a little grown up conversation complemented with fine food and beverages, and the odd celebrity siting.

FUNCTIONSWith function rooms suitable for 15 to 100 guests, Malt is a perfect destination for social or corporate gatherings, from intimate soirees to large-scale, lavish events. Each private room is plush and individually styled, and offers dedicated wait and bar staff. The venue can accommodate up to 250 guests in total, while the experienced, professional and passionate team guarantees unforgettable events.
FOOD & BEVERAGEMalt’s light supper-style menu utilises premium local ingredients, designed to complement our beverage selection. Gourmet pizzas, mini burgers and cheeseboards are popular choices to accompany drinks, while the Platter Menu is available for group bookings. Malt offers an extensive wine and vintage Champagne list, as well as a reserve list available on request, plus a bevy of top-shelf spirits and liqueurs and a fine selection of boutique and imported beers. There a strong focus on single malt whiskeys, boasting Perth’s largest variety of over 50 options. The cocktail list includes some twists on traditional recipes, some new creations and the important classics.
