Standing proud on the corner of a little laneway and Perths super-chic King Street, No. 44 has been serving great food and coffee for as long as most can remember. The restaurant itself has been a launch pad for many greats of the hospitality industry and has seen more than a few changes in this end of town. Neighboured by high-end retailers such as Bally and Louis Vuitton, the prices at No. 44 may reflect its fashionable location but the food and wine is worth every extra cent. Rich wooden floor boards and solid tables and chairs provide a comfortable and moody environment for diners to watch their meals being prepared through the open kitchen.
This place has always produced captivating aromas of breads baked fresh on the premises and divine roasted coffee, not forgetting the food of course. Theres plenty to choose from on the menu, with the chefs at No. 44 making the most of local seasonal produce. The King Street tasting plate offers a selection of tasty morsels to whet your appetite before tackling mains such as the delicious King Street classic of duck and wild mushroom pappardelle or the grilled Broome barramundi fillet with prawn sauce and crushed new potatoes. Each item on the menu is very well matched to one of the 400 wines on offer at the restaurant, 70 of which are available by the glass. Those with a sweet tooth will love the desserts and the cheese platter complemented with a lovely sticky wine or one of No. 44s special blend coffees. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner its a great venue to visit while taking in the sights of King Street glamour.
