LOCATION
On the waterfront at Barrack Street Jetty.

When asked where to take out-of-town guests for a meal, there’s usually a few boxes that need to be ticked before any recommendations can be made. Great service? Check. Fabulous food and wine? Check. Breathtaking views? Check. Surprisingly, there are not too many restaurants in our ever-expanding city that actually satisfy all of these pre-requisites, but there’s always one that I can count on. Halo is located on Perth’s iconic Barrack Street Jetty and everyone I’ve ever taken there has thoroughly enjoyed it. Perched over the Swan River with sparkling views of South Perth, the location and its surrounds alone are enough to write home about. The interior is light and bright with a freshness that seems to reflect all the way through to the food and service. Now headed by multi-award winning Perth chef Shane Keighley (of Oceanus and Mullaloo Beach Hotel fame), the kitchen is all about preparing everything on the premises and using organic and free-range produce where possible.
Although the menu changes frequently, there’s also a great choice of daily specials along with an impressive wine list with over 180 local and interstate wines to choose from. In keeping with a slight aquatic theme, fresh seafood takes centre stage and Shane’s degustation of salmon is proof he knows his fish. Arranged in four styles including tartare, confit, hot smoked with wasabi and ginger dressing, and seared with gribiche sauce, salmon lovers will delight in this unique dish. Other dishes sure to create an impact include the Margaret River venison carpaccio, Linley Valley pork cutlet and the MSA beef fillet with garlic confit gnocchi. Beautiful by day or night, Halo certainly does its best to leave a lasting impression on diners.
